Phosphating Services

Phosphating

Phosphating is a chemical conversion coating process used to enhance corrosion resistance, improve paint adhesion, and increase the service life of ferrous metal components. At M.S. Industrial Services, we carry out Zinc, Manganese, and Iron Phosphating strictly in accordance with Indian Standard IS 3618, offering Class A, Class A1, and Class B coatings based on application requirements.

We specialize in phosphating of Hydraulic Tanks, Diesel Tanks, and Hydraulic Tubes, supplying high-quality, paint-ready components to major OEMs, Earth Moving Equipment manufacturers, and Construction Equipment companies, ensuring consistent performance and compliance with industry standards.

Types of Phosphating & Key Differences

Zinc Phosphating (Class A, A1 & B – IS 3618)

Zinc phosphating provides excellent corrosion resistance and an ideal base for painting. The process maintains controlled coating weight, uniform crystal structure, and consistent finish.

  • Class A: Heavy-duty coating for severe corrosion resistance

  • Class A1: Medium coating for enhanced protection and superior paint adhesion

  • Class B: Light coating for general corrosion protection and paint base preparation

Common applications:
Hydraulic tanks, diesel tanks, hydraulic tubes, painted assemblies, and structural components.

Manganese Phosphating (IS 3618)

Manganese phosphating is designed to improve wear resistance and reduce friction. The dense phosphate coating enhances lubrication retention and increases component life under high load and friction conditions.

Common applications:
Gears, shafts, fasteners, and mechanical components used in heavy-duty and construction equipment.

Iron Phosphating (IS 3618)

Iron phosphating is a cost-effective surface treatment that provides basic corrosion protection and excellent paint adhesion. It creates a clean, uniform, paint-ready surface suitable for high-volume industrial applications.

Common applications:
Sheet metal parts, fabricated components, tubes, panels, enclosures, and components requiring painting or powder coating.

Tri-Cationic Phosphating

Tri-cationic phosphating is an advanced zinc phosphating process that incorporates zinc, nickel, and manganese ions to produce a finer, denser, and more uniform phosphate coating. At M.S. Industrial Services, we carry out tri-cationic phosphating as part of our phosphating solutions to meet high-performance industrial and OEM requirements.

This process offers superior corrosion resistance and significantly improved paint adhesion compared to conventional phosphating. The fine crystalline structure ensures excellent coating uniformity, making it ideal for components requiring high-quality finishing and long-term durability.

Common applications:
Hydraulic tanks, diesel tanks, hydraulic tubes, fabricated assemblies, and painted components used in OEM, earth moving, and construction equipment industries.
